EMOTE WORLD

EMOTE

EMOTE is a travellers' wardrobe - an edited selection of essential travel pieces and the precious things we collect along the way. I continue to explore themes of inclusivity, community over consumption, and easy dressing, all of which were foundational pillars for my previous brand TOME.

EMOTE is a shared wardrobe for everybody; sustainable, ethical, progressive, and gender expansive, especially when community and emotional connection is something we are looking for. It is an offering that is beyond the material, it is about EMOTion.

EMOTE strives to be a better brand. We are conscious of our direct and indirect impact upon people and planet. We are committed to producing fashion with an awareness of the material issues of overconsumption, waste, and the impact of our supply chain.

EMOTE creates very limited production runs, of no more than 25 units of any item. We use 100% deadstock raw materials, spun and woven within miles of the factories that produce our garments, from leftover woven organic pima cotton poplin in Lima, Peru to re purposed high end cashmere in Prato, Italy.

EMOTE is a community based endeavor. Relationships bring purpose to our lives. From Peru to Greece, Australia to the USA, Mexico to Italy, the textiles shared by EMOTE tell a story of experiences and cultures experienced by many.

One of the many upsides for Ryan Lobo in launching Emote? Making clothes he could himself wear.

"All of this speaks to the fact that there are great things already in the world," Lobo says, "and while I am not looking to replace them or better them, there's ways to move them forward. I wouldn't say they are essentials, because that's almost an arrogant proposition," he went on to say. "What's essential to me may not be essential to you." Even the accessories are considered: grosgrain belts to cinch those vintage jackets ("They pull everything together," he says.

"Takes it away from the hippie trail and gives a little fashion edge"); ceramic brooches made by Valery Yong, a friend in his native Australia who went from being a stylist to an artist; fringed pareos to wrap and twist at whim; and, yet to come, oversized tote bags which will zip apart to become beach towels. Those feel very Emote: Bring the sun with you, wherever you are and wherever you go.
